I realize and I put a double curtain

I realize and I put a double curtain

The double curtain has a double interest: it regulates the entry of light into your rooms - the bedroom or living room in particular, and brings an aesthetic touch. The double curtain also protects you from heat and cold, as well as outside looks ...

Step 1 - I gather the material necessary to make the curtain

To make a curtain, I need enough fabric to cover my window and gather the curtain, double the width of the window. I need a piece of ruflette corresponding to the width of my curtain. I plan hooks to fix the rings and the rings which will allow me to hang the curtain.

Step 2 - I plan the location of my double curtain

I take the exact measurements of my window in height and in width. I plan to exceed 15 cm on each side in width

Step 3 - I measure my fabric

I count twice the width of the window to have the width of fabric necessary to gather the curtain. As for the length, I calculate 15 cm more up and down for the hems: a flap of 5 cm and a hem of 10 cm. I also measure the ruflette by taking the same measurement as the width of the window.

Step 4 - I cut and stitch the fabric

After marking the measurements on the fabric using a special fabric chalk, I cut it to the desired size. I then make the side hems, then the top and bottom hems.
I machine stitch the side hems.

Step 5 - I put the ruflette

To place the ruflette, I leave 2 cm at the top of the curtain and I fix the ruflette using pins, the bottom of the ruflette must reach the bottom of the hem. So if I hem 10 cm and leave a gap of 2 cm, the width of the ruflette should be 8 cm. There are ruflettes of different widths. It is she who determines the width of the top hem. The larger the ruflette, the larger the head of my curtain. Similarly, the larger the head, the less we will see the rings. Once the ruflette fixed with the pins, I build it and finally I prick the whole in the machine by making a seam at the top and bottom of the ruflette.

Step 6 - I put the hooks

I then fix the hooks at regular intervals on the ruflette. Some hooks are stapled directly, others must be sewn. You can fix them on two different heights. If you put them in the high position, the rings will be seen once the curtain is fixed, while in the low position, the rings will be practically invisible: it is a choice to make. Here I put them in the down position. I am careful not to sew the threads which I will use to gather the ruflette.

Step 7 - I put the rings

I clip the rings on the hooks intended for this purpose.

Step 8 - I prepare the material to install the curtain rod

To install the curtain rod, I need two supports, screws, a screwdriver or a screwdriver. I plan a saw and sandpaper.

Step 9 - I install the bar supports

I screw the supports on the lintel above the window, or in a hard part of the wall. I plan to extend 10 cm on each side so that the curtain covers the entire window.

Step 10 - I measure the length of the bar

I put the bar in the supports and I check that it does not exceed more than 20 cm. Otherwise, I saw it to the right length and I pass the sandpaper over the sawn part for finishing.

Step 11 - I lay the curtain

I can finally lay the curtain. I check the correct length and I stitch the bottom hem.

Step 12 - My window is dressed

After checking that the curtain is gathered correctly, I iron it and I finally put it down.
