If there is one room where one does not imagine that it is necessary to make efforts to save energy and preserve the planet, it is the toilet. And yet, there are many tips for being eco-friendly even in this small room. Here are some tips for green toilets.

Focus on water consumption

In the toilet, the biggest problem is probably the excessive consumption of water that we use when we flush. You should know that the tank of a conventional toilet usually contains 10 liters of water. It is then enough to visualize how many times you draw it per day to realize the important wastage of water. To remedy this problem, dual control hunts are ideal because your water consumption will decrease significantly and your bill too (from 50 to 150 euros per year). This device is quite simple to install but if you do not want to change your flush, you can also reduce the volume of the water tank in a traditional way by placing a bottle of water in the tank for example. In addition, try to limit the use of the toilet flush, for example by avoiding using it as a trash can which will consume water unlike the traditional trash can.

Chemical products

Cleaning toilets should not be taken lightly and for this, we often tend to use very aggressive products in order to descale or disinfect surfaces. These products are very bad for the environment, you should know that we can do without these products by opting for natural solutions. For example, you can descale the toilet by pouring white vinegar into the bowl and letting it work for 1 hour. We then flush the toilet to eliminate the product and find a naturally descaled bowl. One can also use baking soda which will have the property of cleaning and deodorizing. For this, we regularly sprinkle baking soda and leave to act before rinsing well. Black soap can also be used for cleaning just like white clay stone which can clean surfaces. By using natural products, you will also save in terms of packaging because these products are packaged in a very simple way and are used for multiple applications.

Ecological alternatives

There are many ecological alternatives to traditional toilets. You can thus use dry toilets which as the name suggests do not use water for its operation. Instead, it is sawdust, shavings or other litter that covers the droppings. This saves 10 liters of water each time you go to the toilet. In addition, this type of installation is part of a selective sorting process by taking care of the waste and avoiding the treatment of wastewater. Contrary to popular belief, this type of toilet can also be installed in the city, provided that there is a method of emptying.
