Zoom on the lock itself

We all know that a lock is used to close a door, window, gate or safe. Nevertheless, it is good to specify that it has several small parts which work together, and which are subject to "attacks" of all kinds. Moisture, dust, frost, strong heat, badly inserted keys and objects that could be there (it is especially young children who have fun doing this) can damage the lock. It must therefore be preserved by maintaining it, using non-corrosive products which are not harmful to health. This maintenance should not be done every day, but on a fairly regular basis.

Reasons for regular maintenance of a lock

The mechanism and linkage of each locking point need not be as well maintained as the cylinder or door barrel. Indeed, the latter being severely tested due to the repeated passage of the keys, their exposure to all temperatures or an offset setting with the door, they must therefore be properly maintained. Before cleaning, it is best to check and remedy these important points. Thus, the keys will no longer force into the barrel, facilitating maintenance, and avoiding any risk of deterioration. Once this step is completed, it is time to move on to the proper care of your lock.

To properly maintain your lock

You have to start with the door cylinder. If the latter is dirty, you can use lock lubricant which will thoroughly clean it. You will inject lock remover into the key passage. To complete this cleaning, it is important to make two or three presses. The product can thus be distributed correctly. By inserting your keys, dust or other deposits will stick to it, and will be systematically removed when you take the key out of its location. You will need to clean it with a lint-free cloth to remove all the black present. Do not hesitate to repeat this operation as long as your key is black. If the maintenance of your lock (s) is done regularly, there is no risk of damaging it! As a result, you will protect it and prolong its effectiveness.
